Description

Nature of Business

Founded in 2002 by Mr. Sun Xiushun, Winning International Group is a diversified conglomerate based in Singapore, with businesses in areas including Ship Owning, Shipping Operation, Maritime Transhipment, Ship Management, Mining Development, and Construction and Operation of Railway and Port. Through our branches based in China, Indonesia and Guinea, we provides customers worldwide with land and marine logistics and transportation services for bauxite, alumina, iron ore, as well as general cargo, with an annual shipping volume of more than 60 million tons.

Meanwhile, as the world’s leading bauxite and general cargo carrier, Winning currently controls and operates more than 100 vessels, including a self-owned fleet of 51 Capesize bulk carriers with a total deadweight tonnage of nearly 10 million tons, ranking among the top in the world in terms of total shipping capacity. In Guinea, West Africa, Winning manages and operates a maritime transshipment system comprising of nine modern large-scale floating cranes, a pair of Floating Commodity Terminals, nearly a hundred barges, ocean tug boats, harbour assistant tug boats, a bunker tanker and a floating dock, possessing annual maritime logistics capabilities of 60 millions tons.

In 2015, Winning International Group joined hands with China’s Weiqiao Group, China’s Yantai Port Group of Shandong Port Group, and France’s UMS to form “SMB-Winning Consortium” and began bauxite development in Guinea. Currently the output has reached 60 million tons. In just several years, the Consortium became the largest bauxite producer in Guinea . Through the success of the SMB-Winning Consortium project, Guinea has become the world’s largest bauxite exporter and second-largest producer.

To realize the economic, environmental protection and sustainability of the bauxite project, SMB-Winning Consortium invested US$1.2 billion to independently manage the construction of the 125km-long Dapilon-Santou Railway, which has been inaugurated on June 16, 2021 as the first modern railway built in Guinea in half a century. With an annual transportation capacity of 45 million tons, this railway is acting as a support for Santou mining zone’s transportation system and also serving other large bauxite enterprises along its route.

In November 2019, Winning Consortium Simandou, established by Winning International Group and its partners, was awarded the mining concession to develop blocks I & II of the Simandou iron-ore deposit. These two blocks contain more than 1.8 billion tons of high-grade iron ore with an iron content of more than 65.5wt%. Located in the southeastern part of Guinea, the Simandou iron-ore mine is also the largest source of untapped open-pit iron ore of the highest iron content in the world. In order to develop the Simandou iron ore project, the parties involved in the project are building a 600-kilometer “CTG Railway” to connect the Simandou mining area and the port of Morebaya, which is located in southwestern Guinea, on the Atlantic Ocean. Currently, four 12,000-ton ore barge loading berths are under construction, which can achieve an annual throughput of 70 million tons of iron ore.

“People-oriented, environmentally friendly, sustainable development” is Winning’s business creed. From shipping to mining, to railway and port construction and operations, as well as community development projects, over the past 20 years, Winning has been committed to creating value for customers as its fundamental motto, while also continuously enhancing well-beings the of employees and communities. Looking forward to the future, Winning will continue to focus on shipping as its main business, consolidate the SMB-Winning Consortiumbauxite project, and work with its partners to write a new legend of the Simandou Iron Ore Project and work together for a win-win situation!
